چکیده

In this work we present a biologically motivated framework for the modeling of the visual scene exploration preference. We aim at capturing the statistical patterns that are elicited by the subjective visual selection and reproduce them via a computational system.

Viewing Complex, Dynamic Scenes "Through the Eyes" of Another Person: The Gaze-Replay Paradigm.

We present a novel "Gaze-Replay" paradigm that allows the experimenter to directly test how particular patterns of visual input-generated from people's actual gaze patterns-influence the interpretation of the visual scene. Although this paradigm can potentially be applied across domains, here we applied it specifically to social comprehension. Participants viewed complex, dynamic scenes through...

Learning Saliency. An ICA based model using Bernoulli mixtures

In this work, we present a model of both the visual input selection and the gaze orienting behaviour of a human observer undertaking a visual exploration task in a specific scenario. Our input is made of a sequence of gaze-tracked fixations acquired from a custom designed wearable device. We aim at characterising the statistical properties and regularities of the selected visual input. While th...

Typing with Gaze: An Interaction Design Perspective

In this position paper, we discuss some early in-house experiments in designing eye gaze input systems for text entry. We have focused primarily on improving the interface’s feedback for dwell time and selection, using both sound and visual feedback. While carrying out these design experiments, we have become interested in the potential of factors such as Read Text Events (RTE). While these are...

Cross-modal influence of mechanosensory input on gaze responses to visual motion in Drosophila.

Animals typically combine inertial and visual information to stabilize their gaze against confounding self-generated visual motion, and to maintain a level gaze when the body is perturbed by external forces. In vertebrates, an inner ear vestibular system provides information about body rotations and accelerations, but gaze stabilization is less understood in insects, which lack a vestibular org...

Gaze orienting in dynamic visual double steps.

Visual stimuli are initially represented in a retinotopic reference frame. To maintain spatial accuracy of gaze (i.e., eye in space) despite intervening eye and head movements, the visual input could be combined with dynamic feedback about ongoing gaze shifts. Alternatively, target coordinates could be updated in advance by using the preprogrammed gaze-motor command ("predictive remapping"). So...
